Former Valet here. I don’t think anybody wonders...I have similar and worse stories. Great gig though, joyride awesome cars and then leave with $200-$300.

Seems pretty standard, nothing suprising here; I can't imagine being so affluent that parking my own car would be such a chore, but I guess that's why I'm a prole.

Didn’t read, but I’m well aware. I’d like to think my cousin who’s doing valeting is above average respectful with the property, but I know for a fact he’s a little... rambunctious. Enthusiastic.

I think it would be pretty awesome driving all the nice cars, what's the nicest/coolest car that you got to drive while working as a valet?

“Rich people don’t care, man”

That guy can eat a bag of dicks.

When my parents were visiting me in Daytona I pulled up to the front entrance in my Crossfire with my parents in their Hyundai in front of me. They were going to get me a parking pass.

I watch the doorman ignore them as they walk in. I get out of the car and he puts on the biggest shit-eating grin I’ve ever seen. “If you’re going to be staying here a while I’d be happy to valet your car for you” I told him no thanks, but he insisted. So I told him I knew exactly what you guys do with cars.

My parents came back just in time for the guy to let me park in front of the hotel overnight.

Sometimes you have no choice. Or it’s just easier.

My friends had their wedding rehearsal dinner at a restaurant that offered free valet. It was super convenient since it’s in an area with no easy parking. I gladly crusised up and handed over the keys to my car.

If its free and much more convenient I would probably do the same thing

I valet a car at least once a week, often more and never have a problem. I’ve never seen the odometer go up regardless of what I pull up in (Mustang/Escalade/Taurus/911 Turbo/etc)

I’ve “parked” just about anything that you can think of excluding boutique brands (Spyker, Morgan). However, most of the time with fancy cars, that just means that I got to turn it around in the parking lot and back it into a space.

The venue at which I worked, only had 10 or so “VIP” spots up front. Often those spots we’re filled up with the Italians, Bently’s etc. Which means cars like AMG Merc’s, 911 Turbos etc... had go go to the back lot which was out of sight/sound, and a two lane/one way straightaway is what got you there...So you can imagine the free for all that was.

However the coolest cars that I got to “drive” with permission... we’re all Ferraris. A guy tossed me the keys to his 612 Scaglietti and his credit card, then politely asked me to go and fill it up with gas! So I did, then ran it up and back on the highway that was near by a few times. All the others I drove were 8cyls. Lots of 360's, 430's etc. Guys would drive, then leave with other people, be too drunk to drive etc...They would pay two of the valet’s to take it home for them at the end of the night.

Yeah, nothing too surprising in there. I’d never let someone valet my car. Not that it’s anything special or terribly valuable, but I have put so much work into it that building another would be a huge pain in the ass and that’s the kind of value that doesn’t get paid out on by an insurance company.

My wife’s car? Hell yeah, I’ll valet that. No one’s gonna hoon a friggin Equinox anyway.

I did Valet for 3 years in college. It’s mostly true but he exaggerates how common the antics are. I worked for a big valet company and the crazier shit like donuts and street races happened but were certainly not commonplace. However speeding excessively on the streets and in ramps was very common due to the pressure/competition to be the fastest valet.

Exactly. I gladly handed over the keys to my Sonic a couple times to valet, because I know exactly how slow it was.
